Concept 1
Initially launched in 1996, Concept 1 is a minimalist techno project by Windsor-raised producer Richie Hawtin. The project originated as a series of 12 monthly vinyl EPs exploring stark, percussion-heavy minimalism. This year-long experiment marked a departure from the acid techno of Hawtin's Plastikman alias and laid the groundwork for his Minus label. On set79, tracks from the Concept 1 catalog occasionally appear in recorded techno sets.
