Larry Heard

Widely regarded as the pioneer of deep house, this Chicago-born producer and DJ bridged the gap between the mechanical drive of early house and the warm, soulful elements of disco. Recording under his own name and his primary solo alias Mr. Fingers, Larry Heard shaped the sound of the genre with landmark mid-1980s releases like "Can You Feel It" and "Mystery of Love". He also co-founded the influential group Fingers Inc. alongside vocalists Robert Owens and Ron Wilson, releasing the historic 1988 album *Another Side*. Heard releases much of his music through his own Alleviated Records imprint, maintaining a distinct production style defined by lush synthesizer pads, jazz-inflected chords, and sparse drum machine patterns.
