Todd Terry
A Brooklyn producer who built late-80s house out of hip-hop sampling habits, chopping breaks and vocal stabs into records issued under a pile of aliases: Royal House's Can You Party, Black Riot's A Day in the Life, House of Gypsies. Todd Terry's 1995 remix of Everything But The Girl's Missing turned an acoustic album track into a worldwide hit, and it remains the record most people know him for. He runs his own InHouse label, and his DJ sets still sit between classic house and tech house.
